Exacta Technologies, the Bristol-based leader in high-performance server technology, is to expand into new markets, including the US< and increase its workforce following a £1.8m investment from NatWest.

Launched in 2001, Exacta specialise in bespoke technological packages that provide sector-leading reliability and ultra high-performance capability for its global client base.

It credits its growth to date to its founding principle of not selling to thousands of customers but working in partnerships with a select group of long-standing customers, including Intel, Dell, Asus and Nvidia.

The NatWest funding, made up of £1.5m in working capital and growth financing along with £300,000 for refinancing, will now enable the firm to explore new markets while increasing its headcount by around 20 over the next year to more than 50.

Exacta Technologies founder and CEO Nick Rogers said: “We’ve built our business on strong, enduring partnerships and this investment from NatWest is a testament to the relationship we have built together and the confidence they have in our vision and capabilities.

“The funding will allow us to explore new markets and continue our growth trajectory, ensuring we can attract new customers in the USA and provide them with a world-class service.”

Having been founded in Bristol as a manufacturer of fully customised branded appliances and white-box servers for software companies, the firm expanded and relocated to Ubley in the Chew Valley in 2006.

Four years ago it moved into a 20,000 sq ft, state-of-the-art production facility at Emersons Green from where it now operates three sections – Platform by Exacta, Blackcore by Exacta, pictured, & Proline by Exacta.

Its first Blackcore produced was launched in 2015 after it was approached by one of the world’s leading financial companies to see if it could build an overclocked server to speed up its transactions.

The second generation of Blackcore hit the market in 2019 is now used in nearly 30 colocation data centres worldwide.

NatWest relationship director Louis Spencer added: ”Exacta Technologies has demonstrated remarkable growth and innovation over the years and are a fantastic example of the depth and breadth of our technology ecosystem here in the West of England.

“It’s been a pleasure to work with the management team and we are proud to help facilitate this latest expansion into US markets and back their commitment to growth in employment, sales and export activity for the region.

“They are the exactly the type of high growth business we are keen to support.”
