Bart Ingredients, the Bristol-based manufacturer of herbs and spices, looks set to move from its base close to the city centre to a new warehouse development at Avonmouth.

The firm, which was founded in 1963, is being linked with Junction One, a 139,000 sq ft unit on a 6.6-acre site next to the new junction on the M49.

Reports said the firm had signed a 15-year lease on the development and would be moving from its current head office and warehouse at York Road in Bedminster.

Junction One has been speculatively developed by Northampton-based property investor Barwood Capital.

According to its marketing material it has 14 dock-level loading doors accessing a 50m yard, 104 car parking spaces, 25 HGV parking bays and 7,000 sq ft of office space.

Barts, which was founded by Reg and Jo Bartlam, was acquired by private equity firm Langholm Capital in 2010 and then diversified into organic and Fairtrade products. In 2014 it to expand into the pastes and sauces market after acquiring the assets of Berkshire-based OTP Foods in a multi-million pound deal.

Three years later it was acquired by German spice producer Fuchs Group, the world’s largest privately-owned spices group, for an undisclosed sum.
