Global real estate advisor CBRE is to relocate its Bristol base from Clifton to a state-of-the-art new office development in the city centre.

The firm’s South West and Wales team will move into EQ on Victoria Street, the first building in the world to achieve SmartScore Gold accreditation for its sustainable features.

EQ, pictured, which at 200,000 sq ft is also one of Bristol’s largest commercial developments in recent decades, is powered by 100% renewable electricity and a with a connection to Bristol’s district heat network

CBRE will be taking 7,500 sq ft on the first floor of the recently opening building, overlooking its atrium and accessed via its own staircase.

The office will be occupied by CBRE team, which has grown from 50 to more than 90-strong over the last five years, during which it has been based in Clifton Heights on The Triangle.

CBRE will join a list of blue-chip occupiers at EQ, including banking giant HSBC, international sustainable development and engineering consultancy Arup, accountancy and wealth management group Evelyn Partners, payments platform firm Dojo, investment firm Rathbones, Top 50 law firm Birketts and specialist surveying and construction consultancy Rund.

CBRE said the building, which also has an EPC ‘A’ rating, aligned with its values and was chosen by after close collaboration with its own workplace strategy team, who analysed desk optimisation and the business’s projected growth.

CBRE Midlands and South managing director Tom Morris, pictured, said the relocation marked an exciting new chapter for our Bristol team.

“The EQ development’s outstanding sustainability credentials and leading amenities align perfectly with what our people are seeking from a workplace,” he added.

“Bringing our team together in such an innovative space will enhance our workplace experience, help us attract and retain best-in-class talent and ensure we can continue to offer and grow our exceptional client service offer.

“This is an exciting time for the city of Bristol and we’re excited to be growing alongside it.

“We’re a people-first business and the EQ building gives us the perfect location to collaborate with our clients and build our network.

“Our team in the South West has nearly doubled in the past five years, so it was only right that we relocated to an office that meets the ambitions of our growing team.”

CBRE’s project management team will now manage the fit-out of the workspace ahead of the South West and Wales team’s relocation in the second quarter of next year.

EQ, developed by London-based CEG, has been recognised as the British Council for Offices’ (BCO) Best Commercial Workplace in the South West.

As well as being the world’s first building to achieve SmartScore Gold accreditation it is also certified WiredScore Platinum, highlighting its exceptional connectivity and smart building features.

CEG investment manager Paul Richardson said EQ was exceptional because the team behind it challenged every idea and detail through its design and construction.

The building was designed for operational energy performance far before NABERS, the National Australian Built Environment Rating System, set the industry benchmark, he added.

“From façade design to water conservation, occupant wellbeing to sustainable travel, it exceeds expectations,” he said.

“This, coupled with the great location and fantastic wealth of amenities continues to attract the highest calibre tenants and we are delighted to welcome CBRE to EQ’s thriving business community.”

CBRE is the world’s largest commercial real estate services and investment firm, employing 130,000-plus people in more than 450 offices worldwide, including eight in the UK.

It offers a broad range of integrated services spanning facilities, transaction and project management to property management and sales.
