Move for expanding software developer gives it space for further growth

Specialist IT firm WPC Software has moved to a larger office in Bristol to accommodate its fast-expanding team.

The firm, which employs nearly 30 people, has relocated from Keynsham, where it was based for 15 years, to premises in Longwell Green as it develops new software for the public sector including national government agencies.

The company’s software products are designed to help police forces share information, work more efficiently and reduce bureaucracy in all operational areas.

Its systems enable police forces to work collaboratively together and facilitate multi-agency problem solving with partner organisations.

The new building has been refurbished to provide much-needed office space and meetings rooms for the growing business, which is recruiting additional graduate and experienced software developers.

Its latest appointment is Chris Gough, who joins its senior team as services manager from IT services provider ICE ICT, a supplier to UK specialist hospitals where he also previously worked as IT service delivery manager. He will be responsible for the delivery of WPC’s client support services.

Prior to this Mr Gough was director of IT managed services at Amicus ITS, having previously worked with WPC Software’s founders Alan and Liz Walker at Dowty in the late 1980s before joining Cable & Wireless.

Mr Gough takes up his new role as WPC moves into new markets with its investigation management tool Crimson – originally developed for police and trading standards teams.

He said: “I have known Alan and Liz Walker for 26 years. Over the years we have discussed my working for WPC on a number of occasions and I am delighted that the time is now right for me to join the company.

“I am looking forward to working with the team to help consolidate our services in the police market and further develop the other business sectors in which WPC play an active role.”

WPC Software managing director Glenn Bewes said: “Chris and the new developers join us at an exciting time of growth for WPC as we use our experience working with the police to develop new information management solutions for other public sector bodies and government agencies.”
