Opportunities to export education and training services to China will be highlighted at a meeting next month.
There is a growing demand in the country for these services and the next Bristol and West of England China Partnership Pow Wow will explore how local universities, colleges and training providers have entered the market.
Hosted by Bristol law firm Burges Salmon on April 6, the networking event will be attended by representatives of universities, colleges and training suppliers as well as businesses with an interest in trading with China.
The way UWE Bristol has exported its education services to China will be explained by pro vice-chancellor and executive dean in the Faculty of Business and Law, Donna Whitehead.
Burges Salmon partner Philip Beer and associate Mervyn Seet will speak about the firm’s links and visits to China as well as giving a brief overview of their work in the education sector.
Philip Beer said: “It’s great to see an increasing number of links being forged between South West businesses and China. More businesses are set to benefit from this strengthening bond, helped particularly by events such as this focusing on exporting education and training services to China.”
Richard Lowe, director of training & digital learning services at Hewlett Rand, the international management, training and digital learning consultancy with expertise in Hong Kong and China, will outline experience exporting digital learning.
He said: “It’s important that consultants and providers consider the market carefully and plan for the long term.”
Bristol and West of England China Partnership CEO Dianne Francombe added: “We’re aiming to reach out to universities, colleges and training providers with a view to strengthening greater links with China. The event will cover the advantages of firms and establishments exporting education and training to China.
“The West of England has a number of major universities and centres of excellence which attract students from China and have great expertise to draw upon.”
The April Pow Wow takes place at Burges Salmon’s One Glass Wharf HQ on April 6 from 6pm-8.30pm.
The Informal networking events provide an opportunity to discover more about exporting to China, to share experiences and meet fellow China enthusiasts over drinks and canapés.
