An exclusive Cotswolds bridal boutique whose customers have included members of the royal family has been acquired by new owners with advice from the Bristol law firm Meade King.
The White Room in Minchinhampton, near Stroud, which sells luxury wedding dresses by internationally acclaimed designers including Jenny Packham and Suzanne Neville, has been bought by business partners Zoey Jayaweera and Alex Caudle.
Former customers include the Queen’s granddaughter Zara Phillips, who chose her wedding gown from the boutique for her 2011 nuptials with ex-England rugby captain Mike Tindall.
Zoey and Alex acquired The White Room from the shop’s founders Rachel Partridge and Lesley Higgins, who opened it in 2009.
Zoey is a former dental practice manager and qualified personal stylist while Alex has a background in retail fashion and beauty.
Meade King company and commercial partner Alexander Hall, a partner in team, advised the duo on the acquisition and share purchase agreement.
Zoey said: “We knew Alexander because he advised my husband on the sale of his dental business in Birmingham. Alexander specialises in advising businesses nationally, both large and small, so we were really pleased he was able to assist us.
“He was absolutely brilliant throughout and helped sort things when we encountered complicated technical issues. Having someone there with his expertise took a lot of the pressure off us.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to now be running The White Room and we have some exciting plans to expand our range and announce new designers.”
Alexander added: “It’s been a pleasure working with Zoey and Alex on this venture. They have boundless energy and entrepreneurial spirit and I am sure they will be very successful in their plans for The White Room.
“Not many businesses can claim to have had members of the Royal Family as customers, so I’m delighted to have helped them acquire this exclusive bridal boutique.
Single-office firm Meade King’s lawyers have particular expertise in areas such as commercial property, business sales and acquisitions, construction contracts, dispute resolution and employment law.
The firm also advises a wide range of commercial organisations including care homes, pharmacies, GP surgeries and technology businesses and is nationally recognised for the high quality commercial and regulatory advice it provides to dentists and other healthcare providers.
