Vanessa Moon, the founder and managing director of Bristol-based Moon Executive Search, has started her role as Master of Guild of Guardians.
The Guild, a registered charity which aims to improve the quality of civic life in Bristol, has a membership that includes a representative cross section of businesses, local charities and individuals who discuss policies of the city council with senior politicians. 
Also, a large proportion of the contribution from its members’ fees and subscriptions is used each year for charitable purposes. These have included improvements to the Mansion House – the Lord Mayor’s official residence – as well as new lighting for the Lord Mayors Chapel and other projects around the city. Awards are also made annually to support young people in education.
Vanessa, pictured in the Mansion House, said: “I am delighted to be the third woman to serve as Master of the Guild of Guardians. The Guild plays such an important role in enhancing the good name of the city of Bristol, promoting its traditions, its trade and its commerce.
“I am proud to be part of this continued journey, particularly as this role provides me with an opportunity to give back and support the city of Bristol. Both things which are close of my heart being a Bristol business owner for almost 20 years.”
Vanessa’s theme for the year is economics and happiness. “I strongly believe that promoting happiness both at work and in your personal life is central, if you and your employees are happy then individual and company success and growth will flow naturally from this,” she said.
“This theme also ties into the Guild pillar of promoting the quality of civic life in Bristol. I look forward to seeing many of you at our upcoming events and working with you to continue the success of the Guild of Guardians. I am very much looking forward to a wonderful year ahead as Master.”
Vanessa founded Moon Executive Search in 2000 to specialise in recruiting for senior management and board-level roles as well as non-executive directorships. Based in Pill, it also provides expert HR and financial service consulting.
