Major courier company delivers £1m boost to Bristol van firm with ‘cost-effective’ fleet renewal order

Bristol specialist vehicle leasing firm Vanaways has secured a £1m order for 50 new vans from one of the UK’s biggest courier companies.

Hertfordshire-headquartered The Logistics Organisation, which is in the top 10 suppliers of delivery drivers to both Amazon and FedEx, placed the order for the Fiat vans as it continues to move away from premium brands towards a more cost-effective solution.

The nine-year-old firm delivers more than 1.5m parcels a busy month in an around the M25 and has up to 550 drivers on its books at any one time.

Co-founder Keith Page said the £21m-turnover company could no longer justify the costs of its previous premium brand as the gap between it had Fiat had closed slightly in terms of engineering quality and driver features.

The deal is the latest in a string of orders landed by Vanaways, putting it on track to sell more than 6,000 vehicles this year – up from 5,000 in 2023.

Having moved into new offices in Ham Green last year, staff numbers have risen to 72 at the firm.

Keith Page said the company was now considering switching its entire fleet.

“It’s hard to justify using a prestige brand these days – end customers don’t care as long as their parcel arrives on time and drivers find value vans tend to be more economical.

“We’ve spoken with our previous supplier and they’ve said there’s nothing they can do to compete on price with Fiat, so we’ve no choice but to move at this time.”

Working with a vast network of suppliers across the UK – none of which it is tied to – Vanaways offers free delivery with a digitalised sales process, enabling quick fulfilment of its customers’ fleet needs.

Mr Nicholas said: “Our recent work with The Logistics Organisation is a great example of how manufacturers such as Fiat are offering fleet owners a range of quality-but-affordable products.

“Everything’s changing – customers are focusing on seeking the best value for money for their fleets.

“And the way we buy and sell vehicles is changing too, giving companies like ours the ability to be extremely competitive on pricing while offering fast ordering and delivery.”

The Logistics Organisation’s order comes hot on the heels of Vanaways’ deals with fuel and fleet cost reduction specialist Fleetmaxx and Veriforce CHAS, the UK’s leading provider of risk prevention, compliance and supply chain services for contractors.
