Supporting a diverse range of community initiatives in and around its home city of Bristol has earned health and protection insurer National Friendly was another top award.
Over the past year the mutual organisation has worked on strategies to ward off loneliness among the over 60s, supported creative learning programmes in Bristol schools, collaborated with Children’s Hospice South West and helped fund research into long Covid at Southmead Hospital.
This commitment helped National Friendly beat industry giants including Zurich, Legal & General and Royal London in the Doing Good category of the LifeSearch 2022 Awards.
LifeSearch, a Milton Keynes-based financial services company specialising in advising on life insurance and protection policies, was founded 20 years ago with a mission to sell more ethically.
It has staged its awards, which champion firms in the vanguard of customer service, for 19 years.
Winners of its 13 awards need to demonstrate a genuinely innovative approach to community and charity support.
National Friendly CEO Graham Singleton, pictured, said he was thrilled that National Friendly’s community work had again been recognised – in February last year it landed the Doing it Better trophy in the Protection Review Awards.
“As a mutual organisation, the people in our community are at the centre of our ethos and our community activities have been shown to make a real difference to the vulnerable in our society,” he said.
“This award is also a tribute to our team here at National Friendly who tirelessly work to raise funds every year in support of local causes.”
National Friendly, which was established in 1868 and today specialises in private medical insurance, guaranteed life assurance, assisted living insurance, savings and investments.
It recently launched an ‘accident only’ simplified income protection offering and announced a partnership with HealthHero across a range of products.
