Fast-growing Bristol cafe-bar group Loungers has launched its second Brightside roadside café as it continues to roll out the concept– with a third due to open next month.
The group, known for its suburban Lounge bars and city centre Cosy Clubs, unveiled its first Brightside on the A38 south of Exeter in February.
The second, known as Brightside Saltash, is on the same road A38 at Trerulefoot, Cornwall, while the third will also be in Devon – at Honiton.
The group, which has built its national reach on the success of its early days in Bristol suburbs such as Fishponds, Westbury-on-Trym and on Gloucester Road, says it eventually plans to have Brightsides in every corner of the country and is now actively seeking sites on busy A-roads.
The concept aims to fill what Loungers’ directors see as a gap in the market for “genuine hospitality” in roadside dining and a fight back against the drive-thrus and quick service restaurants that have dominated the sector in recent decades.
The aim is to evoke “memories and excitement” of childhood road trips, say Loungers. Visitors will be greeted by a look that is warm, fun and modern yet feels very familiar and nostalgic.
Loungers founder and chairman Alex Reilley said: “Brightside Saltash has been a labour of love and we can’t wait to finally welcome customers through the doors.
“Summer holidays are just around the corner so we hope locals and travellers on the way down to Cornwall will enjoy our reinterpretation of roadside dining.
“Awaiting them is top-notch hospitality and really excellent, wholesome food in warm, welcoming and stylish surroundings where they can relax and recharge.”
