Daredevil staff at Bristol law firm Meade King are this weekend taking part in a sponsored skydive to raise essential funds for a mental health charity that supports the city’s young people.
Solicitor Sana Sadiq and legal secretary Olivia Miles, who both work in the firm’s corporate and commercial team, along with Tom Booth, a legal counsel in the litigation team, will plunge from a plane at 10,000 ft in aid of Off the Record Bristol (OTR).
The intrepid trio, who will jump in tandem above Salisbury Plain on Sunday, hope to raise at least £1,500 for OTR – Meade King’s charity for the year as chosen by its staff.
OTR provides valuable support to young people affected by mental health issues through a variety of projects including drop-in hubs, workshops and outreach groups in the community.
Sana said: “Jumping from a plane is not something I have done before and I’m trying not to think about it until the day.
“I heard about the positive impact OTR has on young people’s lives through my mum, who is a youth engagement worker, so I decided to get involved in fundraising for the charity. But I’m looking forward to being very firmly back on the ground after our jump!”
Tom also confessed to having a few pre-jump nerves. “I’m trying to focus on the money we will be raising for what is such a worthwhile cause,” he said. “I experienced difficulties myself in the past, so the great work that OTR does helping young people has real significance for me.”
OTR marketing, communications and digital manager Liam McKinnon added: “We’re hugely grateful to Sana, Olivia and Tom for joining us on this pretty epic fundraiser!
“Having their support – and the support of Meade King throughout the year – really helps us continue to innovate how we can provide info and support to young people, allowing them to look after their wellbeing.
“The skydive is a really communal event, bringing together OTR Bristol staff, volunteers, young people and corporate supporters, and we’re all nervously excited about it.” The charity hopes to raise a total of £10,000 from the skydive.
