Just the ticket for a day out!

In an event that harks back to the heyday of anorak-wearing, steam train spotters of the 1950s, South West bus operator Bakers Dolphin has hosted a visit by 80 bus enthusiasts from across the country.

The PSV Circle visited the Weston-super-Mare-based operator to view its fleet of 77 buses and coaches.

“They all brought packed lunches and were particularly interested in the chassis and body numbers for our brand new Streetlite buses,” said Bakers Dolphin operations manager Chris Rubery. “They were also keen to find out who we had recently sold an old Dennis Dart to.”

One of the main attractions was Bakers Dolphin’s 66 Hopper bus introduced into service at the beginning of the month on a new route across North Somerset.

The PSV Circle was set up in 1943 to be the definitive source of all public service vehicle and operator information in the UK. It now produces a number of publications including the quarterly British Journal and Overseas Journal. PSV Circle chairman Brendan Chandler organised the trip to Bakers Dolphin.

Mr Rubery added: “We presented every visitor with an up-to-date fleet list and answered the many questions the group had about our services.”

Established in 1889, Bakers Dolphin offers coach holidays as well as public service routes across the South West.
