Young Bristol entrepreneur Jack Gibbon has won £1,000 and a place in the next round of the Shell LiveWIRE Grand Ideas Awards programme for his nomadic gallery, Antlers.

Jack, 25, launched Antlers late last year – it makes ingenious use of vacant properties in prime locations as temporary art galleries to showcase the work of a changing roster of emerging to mid-career Bristol based artists. The Antlers website acts as their only permanent residence and hosts their online shop - www.antlersgallery.com

Jack’s nomadic gallery has so far mounted five exhibitions in Whiteladies Road, Park Street, Cabot Circus and Christmas Steps. They attracted wide public interest as well as impressing the Shell LiveWIRE judges. His interim prize
£1,000 with no strings attached is in line with LiveWIRE's policy of helping young entrepreneurs to get their business ideas of the ground. It also means that Jack is in with a good chance of winning the £10,000 top prize.

Jack said: "One year on from starting Antlers it is so nice to have our team efforts recognised. This award will be invested in to Antlers and used to secure sponsorship for our 2012 program – making our model more robust and allowing collaboration between us and other Bristol businesses."

Shell LiveWIRE is the UK’s biggest online community for young entrepreneurs aged 16-30. It offers free business advice, funding and networking opportunities to more than 127,000 members.
