Law firm Irwin Mitchell’s Bristol office has given three budding legal professionals a step up on the career ladder, appointing two trainees and adding a newly-qualified solicitor to its expanding team.
Trainees Naomi Brownlow and Lauren Gregory have joined for the next year to work across all areas of law before deciding on which one they would like to specialise in while former trainee Rosalie Reading has been offered a permanent position in the medical law and patients’ rights team, now she is fully qualified.
Lauren studied law at the University of Bristol and completed her LPC (Legal Practice Course) at the city’s College of Law. She has joined the court of protection team.
She said: “Having studied in Bristol, it is a city I am already familiar with and very fond of and I am delighted to be able to stay on and begin my career here. I look forward to getting involved with all areas of the profession to help clients across the South West.”
Naomi, who studied law at the University of Manchester, has joined the workplace injury team. She said: “I completed a week vacation placement with the firm and learnt a great deal.
“The firm’s friendly atmosphere, rigorous approach to cases and emphasis on client care made me know that this was the law firm for me. Irwin Mitchell has one of the strongest reputations as a provider of personal legal services and I look forward to making a positive difference to clients and contributing to the firm’s reputation.”
Rosalie took up her new position as a clinical negligence solicitor at the beginning of September. She said: “Over the past two years I have witnessed the Bristol office evolve and simply go from strength to strength. I am extremely excited about what the future holds for me at Irwin Mitchell.”
As well as the latest appointments, the firm has signed up to the Bristol College of Law mentoring scheme for the third year running to support emerging legal talent in the South West.
This academic year, three lawyers have been assigned a student on the Graduate Diploma in Law (GSDL) or Legal Practice Course (LPC) at the college and will assist with their applications for training contracts, general advice on the legal market and offering work experience.
Irwin Mitchell regional managing partner Jonathan Peacock said: “We are delighted to welcome two new trainees to the firm and to have been able to offer Rosalie a permanent position.
“In today’s environment, finding a job, particularly for the younger generation, is a huge challenge and requires candidates to show energy, drive and passion. The trainees have shown these qualities in abundance and they now face the prospect of working with some excellent clients and colleagues within the office.
“Rosalie has worked very hard over the past year and achieved fantastic results and we wish her a long and successful career in medical law.
“Bristol has a thriving legal community with the city’s colleges and universities offering exceptional training across all areas of the profession. We are pleased to support these and help home-grown talent get a step on the career ladder and invaluable experience in their chosen area of law.”
