Waste management and recycling firm Hills Waste Solutions is gearing up for further growth across the South West after relocating its Bristol depot.
The Swindon-headquartered firm expanded into Bristol nearly five years through its acquisition of commercial waste recycling and food collection firm Able Waste Management. The move led to Hills taking on Able’s existing depot on Hallen Industrial Estate. 
Now Hills has relocated its Bristol operations to new, purpose-built premises on nearby Severn Road.
The firm, part of the family-owned Hills Group, whose interests also include housebuilding, quarrying and aggregates, said the investment in the new depot and infrastructure confirmed its commitment to long-term development in Bristol.
The 14-strong team at the new depot will provide advice and support to new and existing customers in the Bristol and Bath areas who are looking to manage their waste responsibly and sustainably, the firm said. 
Hills Waste Solutions divisional director – commercial Neil Pollard said: “Our depot in Bristol has provided an excellent platform to expand our general waste, recycling and food waste collection services in line with Hills’ existing activities.
“After five years in the area we reached the point where a new, modern, purpose-built facility was essential to our growth plans and are pleased to have secured this depot with workshop facilities that are integral to maintaining our vehicles and increasing productivity.”
The firm, one of the South West’s largest waste handlers, was formed more than 50 years ago and today employs 468 people and turns over around £68m a year.
It also has depots in Purton, near Swindon, and in Westbury, Amesbury and Calne, Wiltshire, and can handle material ranging from asbestos and contaminated soil to food, garden and construction waste.
