Hunt is on to find the West’s greenest businesses

Bristol firms are being encouraged to put ‘green’ at the heart of their business and enter a competition that ties in with the city’s BIG Green Week.

Firms have until 5pm today to register their application and have a chance of winning the title Greenest Business in the South West. The contest is staged by Business West, the business support organisation which runs Bristol Chamber of Commerce and the Bristol Initiative.

The Green Business of the Year Awards 2013 will recognise excellence in environmental responsibility, employee engagement, water efficiency, energy efficiency, sustainable transport, sustainable procurement and waste reduction.

Entries are open to Businesses based in the West of England, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Devon, Cornwall and Somerset. There are two categories: Greenest SME (small to medium-sized enterprise) and the Greenest Business (large enterprise).

Applications must be completed online today, together with a 200-word summary in support of the application. The judges are Nina Skubala from Go Green Bristol at Business West and Simon Billing from Forum for the Future.

Bristol’s BIG Green Week starts on Saturday June 15 with an eco-fashion show at City Hall. The winners of the Greenest Business in the South West Awards will be announced at a ceremony at forming part of the Putting Green into the Heart of Your Business event Leigh Court near Bristol on 18th June 2013.June 18.
