Drinks group Heineken UK is the latest major business to join Neighbourly, the Bristol-based social platform that connects companies that want to make a difference with community projects.
Heineken UK, part of Europe’s biggest brewing firm, will team up with Neighbourly to support its responsible business strategy and help local groups around seven sites across the UK, where it employs more than 2,000.
These include its Manchester brewery, where it makes Foster’s and Kronenbourg 1664, and its Hereford cider plant, where it produces Strongbow and Bulmers.
Heineken UK will now be able to find and collaborate with local causes that matter to them, manage their participation and support for their chosen causes, and then measure the impact of their involvement both locally and nationwide.
Corporate relations director Jeremy Beadles said: “Heineken’s breweries, offices and pubs have been at the heart of local communities for years – so it’s really important that we play our part in making them better places to live and work.
“With seven sites across the UK our partnership with Neighbourly, will really help us connect with great local community causes around our sites, so we can make sure our community investment has a real local impact, but on a national scale.”
Neighbourly founder Nick Davies added: “As the Neighbourly community grows, it’s great to see yet another company understand and embrace the value of becoming a Neighbourly business.
“Heineken is a leader in sustainability and community involvement, pioneering a number of best practices in the area of social responsibility and demonstrating a commitment to reporting and measuring the impact of its efforts. This makes them an ideal partner to join the Neighbourly platform and we are pleased to have them on board.”
Other organisations using Neighbourly, which is based in Bristol’s Engine Shed innovation hub, include corporates such as Marks & Spencer and Starbucks, as well as many small and medium-sized businesses active in their local communities.
In just over 18 months, it has facilitated funding of more than £2m, 9,000 volunteering days and 56,000 meals for community causes around the UK and Ireland
