Six senior appointments have been announced ahead of the launch next month of Bristol Airport’s first airport, the Hampton by Hilton.
The new management team, led by general manager Andrew Peacock, has more than 42 years’ combined experience in the hospitality industry.
They bring together the mix of skills needed to take the helm of the hotel, Bristol’s second Hampton by Hilton.
Andrew Peacock, a Bristol local, has worked in the hospitality industry for more than 14 years – nine of them at Hilton hotels.
Most recently, he was general manager at Doubletree by Hilton Bristol North in Aztec West after a four-year stint as deputy general manager.
Prior to this, he worked in Switzerland, where he ran two hotels for a ski and snowboard company.
Lauris Gedrovics joins as operations manager with a similarly impressive background in the hospitality industry, having worked at a variety of hotels for seven years.
He spent a year and a half as deputy general manager at Ibis Birmingham and most recently was general manager at the 83-bedroom Holiday Inn Express in Birmingham.
Sales manager Kiri Hatfield Smith and maintenance manager Sebastian Fuller have assumed management positions for the first time – although both have considerable experience working for the Hilton brand.
Kiri joins from Doubletree by Hilton Bristol North following a three-year stint as a conference and sales executive while Sebastian has worked for Hilton for six years, and was most recently a maintenance engineer also at the Bristol North hotel.
The new management team also includes two operations supervisor roles. Craig Rees has joined from the Bristol Airport customer experience team and Tony Adams has joined from Doubletree by Hilton Bristol South/Cadbury House, where he worked for six years, most recently as the night duty manager.
Andrew Peacock said: “Bristol Airport is one of the main gateways to our amazing city and we’re so excited to open our doors to the millions of passengers that use the airport each year.
“The management team we have built to launch and manage Hampton by Hilton Bristol Airport is a formidable one; they all have years of experience and the passion needed to make it a roaring success.
“Plus, many of them are originally from Bristol or have worked here for many years, which gave them the edge over other candidates. As general manager, I am delighted to lead this pragmatic and diligent team who I’m sure will get things off to a flying start when we open.”
The 201-room hotel is just two minutes from the main airport terminal and will include a 24-hour gym, a work zone with free wi-fi and computers.
The hotel forms part of a £150m investment at the airport since 2010.
Hampton by Hilton hotel chain operates at the upper mid-priced segment of the industry in 20 countries, with a portfolio of nearly 2,200 properties with more than 218,000 rooms.
Bristol’s first Hampton by Hilton, an 186-room hotel, opened in the former 1960s York House office block on the corner of Bond Street and York Street, 18 months ago.
