Specialist corporate lawyer Nic Barker has joined GL Law to build on the Bristol firm’s corporate finance and mergers and acquisition services to small and medium-sized businesses across the South West.
Nic, pictured, has experience across a range of sectors, including development finance, healthcare and owner-managed businesses.
Having spent some years running her own business, Nic has first-hand experience of the challenges facing business owners.
She trained at Slaughter and May in London and qualified as a corporate lawyer in 1995. She has also practised in Bristol and Hampshire at Shoosmiths and DAC Beachcroft.
She said: “Experience has taught me that involving a professional advisor at the earliest stages of a transaction is vital.
“This is where I can help advise people on the structure and strategy, identifying any potential risks or problems that need to be solved.”
Law director and head of corporate & commercial Paul Hardman added: “Nic joins us at an exciting time of growth as the team expands to keep pace with client demand.
“She brings a wealth of experience and a unique profile, combining hands-on business experience with a proven track record in problem solving for ambitious SMEs, which makes her a natural addition to our team.”
GL Law’s commitment to hybrid working, which enables its people to work flexibly from different locations without compromising client care, means Nic will be based in Devon and Bristol.
GL Law, which rebranded from its previous name of Gregg Latcham in 2020, is one of the UK’s oldest surviving legal practices.
It employs around 65 people in Bristol’s Queen Square and its London office advising individuals and businesses across the South West and London.
