The Bristol office of international law firm Osborne Clarke is strengthening its private wealth team with the appointment of Patrick Wooddisse as partner.
Patrick, pictured, joins Osborne Clarke from Bristol-headquartered TLT, where he held the position of partner and head of private business group since 2008.
Prior to this, he trained at London firm Amhurst Brown Colombotti and also worked at Burges Salmon, which also has its headquarters in Bristol.
Patrick has more than 20 years’ experience advising individuals, financial institutions and trust companies on domestic and international tax planning, intergenerational succession and the establishment and operation of trusts, with a particular specialism in advising families with a US connection. He also advises on the creation and administration of charities.
Respected law sector directory Legal 500 named him as a leading individual in the South West, describing him as ‘very knowledgeable and to the point’ and ‘able to translate his knowledge into providing real solutions’.
Patrick said: “I am excited to be joining Osborne Clarke and look forward to working in such a highly regarded team, further building out its capabilities in Bristol and exploring the wealth of business opportunities in the South West. The team has ambitious targets and I look forward to helping achieve these.”
Osborne Clarke private wealth team lead partner Stuart Janaway added: “It is great to welcome Patrick to Osborne Clarke. He has a proven track record in advising both UK and international clients at the highest level. He is an excellent addition to our growing Bristol team.”
The team, highly regarded for complex international tax planning, has grown significantly since January last year with Patrick Wooddisse joining new hires senior associate Shelley Faulkner, associate Adele Bradley and solicitor apprentice Kendra Perry.
It has built a solid reputation through its high-end client base, multi-jurisdictional expertise and strong US focus, which will be developed further by Patrick’s US experience.
Osborne Clarke is often cited as a ‘go-to’ firm for advising US clients in relation to their UK estate planning.
