National law firm Foot Anstey, which has an office in Bristol, has appointed Sam Elworthy as a partner in its commercial team.
Sam, pictured, previously worked at Bristol law firm Temple Bright, which he joined in 2013 as a partner to open its London office. Prior to that he spent 12 years at Travers Smith in the City.
He handles commercial matters across a range of sectors, including franchising, agency, licensing, distribution, sponsorship, concession, supply of goods and services, outsourcing and hotel management arrangements.
He specialises in ‘separation’ exercises in the context of corporate transactions, including the drafting and negotiation of transitional services arrangements, and is also highly experienced in joint ventures, shareholder arrangements, strategic alliances and other bespoke projects.
Since 2014 Sam has worked with SSP, one of the world’s largest operators of food and beverage outlets in the travel sector, on an outsourced, in-house basis.
Foot Anstey partner and head of commercial Karen Bates said this would help the firm further develop its franchising offering as its commercial team continued to go from strength to strength.
She added: “Sam is already well known to the team and some of our clients. He is an extremely experienced commercial lawyer.”
Sam said: “I’ve long-admired Foot Anstey as a forward-thinking firm and I’m excited to start 2024 with a new challenge at one of the largest commercial teams outside of London.
“The team has built a great reputation for really taking the time to get to know and understand its clients and their businesses and helping them to realise their objectives.”
Foot Anstey, which also has offices in Exeter, London, Plymouth, Southampton, Taunton and Truro, works with leading brands and individuals predominantly across six key sectors – developers, energy & infrastructure, Islamic finance, private equity, private wealth, retail & consumer.
