Former semi-pro sportsman joins Optimum Finance to strengthen its team spirit and build connections

Bristol-based invoice finance provider Optimum Finance has appointed Mike Jones as a senior relationship manager to further bolster its team.

The firm, which provides a range of payment services to small and medium-sized enterprises across a range of sectors, said Mike’s arrival would continue to consolidate new leads, drive client relations and sustain new business growth. 

A former semi-professional rugby player, and with a Twickenham cup final to his name, Mike, pictured, has almost 25 years’ experience in invoice financing and lending to growing businesses.

He has worked for some of the biggest names across multiple sectors and in various roles, including underwriting and risk management, and has particular knowledge of the construction industry.

He joins Optimum from Bristol-based Ultimate Finance, where he spent nearly eight years as a client manager and then relationship manager. Prior to that he worked at rival Bibby Factors for 15 years.

Mike said he was bring a team spirit into building relationships with new and existing clients.

“Optimum’s mission requires a personal touch, finding a solution that gives each business the support, expertise and innovation that in turn delivers the best financial outcome,” he said.

Optimum Finance COO Claire Lewis said Mike was well known and well respected in the industry and the firm was thrilled to have him join as it continued to focus on delivering great service to its growing portfolio of valued clients.

Optimum Finance CEO Ant Persse added that Mike’s connections and ability to create relationships with clients and introducers made him a valuable asset.

Optimum Finance was launched in 2017 and is backed by London private equity group JRJ.

It has been at the forefront of using the latest technology to assist firms in optimising operational efficiencies and effectiveness in areas such as working capital, growth and costs.

It is also taking part in a government-backed programme that aims to help a small group of companies reach exponential growth.
