The Wave, the pioneering inland surfing lake on Bristol’s doorstep, has appointed national law firm Foot Anstey to support it by advising on a range of legal matters.
The first of its kind when it opened in 2019, The Wave was born out of a passion for technology, nature and human health.
It describes itself as a business with purpose at its core, underpinned by values that include sustainability and accessibility, while sharing the positive power of water and waves with more people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.
Foot Anstey, which has an office in Bristol, will draw on its team of specialist lawyers from across the multi-disciplinary firm to support the attraction on various legal matters.
These will include:
- Sustainable energy generation projects: Foot Anstey will offer energy-related services to The Wave across all phases of renewable energy generation project – The Wave Flux Capacitor, which includes ground-mounted solar panels, solar car port, EV charging points and battery storage – from initial development, through to construction and commercial operation. This project is integral to The Wave’s overall vision of creating an environmentally friendly and sustainable facility.
- Developing technology: As The Wave enhances its digital experience, Foot Anstey will advise on data and technology matters, including advice in relation to its ticketing software services.
- Full-service support: Foot Anstey will advise The Wave group with legal needs as they arise, including commercial contracts, corporate, employment, construction, data protection, IP and disputes.

The Foot Anstey team will be led-by legal director Mark Greatholder, supported by a wider multi-disciplinary team, including partner and head of energy and infrastructure Ian Stubbs, partners Christian Silk, Dickon Court, and Suriya Edwards, legal director Adam Weatherly and associate Lisa Kelly.
