Bristol specialist property developer Urban Creation has appointed Maria Cook as financial controller to oversee the finances of its growing property portfolio.
Maria, pictured, brings with her a wealth of property and leisure-related experience. She joins from Bristol-based serviced apartment provider SACO, where she was finance manager for more than three years.
She has also worked in finance for several hotel sector businesses, including The Montpellier Chapter in Cheltenham, City Inn and Hotelscene.
Urban Creation develops and manages high-quality property developments with a focus on homes for students and professional accommodation in the heart of Bristol.
Work is underway on two student properties – Charlotte’s Rise off Park Street and Manor House off St Michaels Hill – and on Beech House in St Pauls Road in Clifton, where it is creating 14 apartments and two houses.
It has created more than 500 apartments across Bristol and the South of England over the last decade.
Urban Creation owner/director Jonathan Brecknell – the driving force behind the company’s expansion of its own portfolio of properties – said: “Maria was the obvious choice for us in this new role as her experience in property and leisure, combined with her financial knowledge, means she brings valuable sector knowledge to the company as we expand.
“We are a tight-knit team and the ethos at Urban Creation is to create really strong relationships with our residents and partners and we believe that Maria will fit our culture very well.”
Maria added: “This is a very exciting time to join the company which has exciting plans for the future and I’m looking forward to being able to play a key role in the business.”
