Claritas Tax, the UK’s largest independent tax advisory firm, has opened a base in Bristol as it continues to develop a regional network of offices across the UK.
The Bristol office, in Temple Quay, is headed by newly appointed partner Robert Brown, who has joined from regional accountancy firm Milsted Langdon.
Robert, pictured, left, with Claritas founding partner Iain Wright, spent just over three years at Milsted Langdon as tax partner.
He has around 35 years’ experience in the sector and has worked for most of his career in the Bristol offices of large national accountancy firms.
Claritas Tax launched in 2012 to offer clients a different approach to the traditional accountancy model.
It says its unique, tax advisory-led approach has enabled it to work with some of the country’s leading businesses a range of sectors.
Having doubled in size over the past two years, it also recently opened an office in Glasgow to add to its existing bases in Birmingham, Manchester and Nottingham.
Founding partner Iain Wright, who is also head of its Birmingham office, said: “It’s been an amazing year for us. And we’re not stopping here.

Partner and head of its Manchester office Matt Hodgson said Robert Brown was well-known and respected in the local market.
He added: “It’s been an incredibly busy 12 months for the firm and the opening of these two offices in prime city centre locations will help us to capitalise on that.

Robert Brown specialises in advising businesses and individuals on compliance tax matters and mitigating tax liabilities through careful planning.
His previous roles have been at BDO and RSM – where he was tax director – and Coopers & Lybrand (later PricewaterhouseCoopers) – where he spent 14 years as a senior tax manager.
Prior to joining Milsted Langdon he worked at e-learning group Stonebridge Associated Colleges, where he was group CFO for five years.
His areas of expertise include private client work, such as Inheritance Tax and Capital Gains Tax planning, and corporate tax matters, such as R&D tax credits, Patent Box, property matters, transactions including succession planning for owner-managed businesses and private companies.
He also assists with compliance and tax planning for professional partnerships.
