Firms seeking business opportunities in China can gain first-hand advice from experts in international trade at a conference later this month.
Speakers from UKTI, China-Britain Business Council, Institute of Exports, Bristol China Partnership and University of the West of England will look at ways to expand into the world’s second-largest economy and explain what is required to develop successful products and services.
The China Trade Conference, which takes place on September 29 at HSBC’s offices in Temple Quay, Bristol, is being staged by the Bristol branch of the Institute of Directors (IOD).
The event will also act as a platform for the IOD and UKTI, the Government’s trade promotion organisation, to launch its multi-partite trade mission opportunity to Bristol’s sister city of Guangzhou in October next year.
Richard Lowe, of the IOD Committee, who is organising both the conference and mission, said: “The China Trade Conference will inspire confidence and provide directors considering expansion with an understanding of China’s market potential, and what preparation and consideration needs to be made before jumping on the plane. We want to be able to guide delegates to support and funding that is available to ensure their business is ready before it takes its first steps into the Chinese market.”
Bristol City Council Leader Barbara Janke added: “It is absolutely right that we raise Bristol’s profile in China and help our companies increase exports to this vital economic market. Some of our larger companies are already seizing these opportunities. Or challenge is to spread the word more widely in the business community. This event is a good opportunity to do this and set out the help available to them.”
The event lasts from noon until 5pm. Prices for IOD members and guests start at £34 and £42 for non-members.
