Renew Legal, the Bristol-based niche practice focused on the renewable energy and energy storage sectors, has appointed Helen Rumford to head its property team.
Helen, pictured, joins from the Bristol office of regional firm Thrings, where she worked for four years – the last two as head of renewables. She previously worked in the Bristol office of Bond Pearce (now Womble Bond Dickinson).
At Renew Legal she is leading the property practice across England and Wales, acting for developers, operators, asset managers, investors, landowners and community groups.
The property team has extensive and in-depth experience in the energy sector across the different technologies. She is working with Karen Shaw, who manages the firm’s property offering in Scotland from its Glasgow office
She is currently involved in battery storage work (stand alone and behind the meter), solar work including options, leases, deeds of grant and wayleaves for new sites and strategic reviews of existing project portfolios to maximise value, anaerobic digestion (AD) for onsite use and AD for gas to grid, solar acquisition and energy-from-waste work.
Helen is a member of Entrepreneurial Women in Renewable Energy, a founding member of the Business and Energy Sector Insights Group and a board member of Low Carbon Gordano, a Community Benefit Society aiming to raise funds to install renewable energy systems and use the surplus income to reduces people’s energy consumption.
