Budget airline Ryanair has announced its biggest ever summer schedule from Bristol Airport, adding two new routes and increasing flights to Warsaw.
The airline’s expansion means it is expecting to fly more than 1.7m passengers via Bristol next year – a 5% growth in traffic.
The two new summer routes are Bucharest and Venice Marco Polo – taking its total route network to 30 destinations from Bristol – with extra flights to Warsaw.
Ryanair has four aircraft based at Bristol Airport, where it employs around 200 people.
The growth at Bristol comes despite the airline recently cutting its profits forecast due to the weak pound.
Bristol Airport head of avation Pete Downes said: “We are delighted that Ryanair has chosen to add two new summer routes to the network available from Bristol Airport. Whether measured by total seats on sale or number of destinations featured, this is the most extensive schedule Ryanair has ever operated from Bristol and offers customers living in the South West and Wales a wider range of choices than ever before.
“Our new service to Bucharest in Romania represents the first time this destination has ever been served from the South West, demonstrating the important role regional airports continue to play in offering choice and connectivity with the added convenience of flying locally.”
