Expert advice on the financial and legal aspects of caring for someone with dementia will available at a free seminar in Bristol next week.
Bristol-based Whitechurch Financial Consultants has teamed up with the dementia research charity BRACE and South West law firm Clarke Willmott for the event on Friday.
The seminar, at Gloucestershire County Cricket Club’s Brightside Ground, will also showcase BRACE’s vital work in funding world-class research into dementia.
The uniquely devastating disease, which currently has no cure, can attack memory, personality, language and physical abilities.
It can last for years – even decades – and rising life expectancy has brought with it an increased prevalence of dementia. Yet without careful planning, the financial toll can be nearly as cruel as the personal loss.
The event will start at 10.30am with a welcome by Gloucestershire County Cricket Club chief executive Will Brown, followed by:
- Prof Stephen Lisney, chair of BRACE Trustees, who will give an update on the progress of dementia research
- Mark Stone, financial planning director at Whitechurch Financial Consultants, who will follow on with expert advice on managing wealth and income for long-term care
- Anne Minihane, a partner in Clarke Willmott’s private capital team, who will talk through the importance and process of appointing a Lasting Power of Attorney.
At the end of the seminar there will be an opportunity to meet and talk one-to-one with the experts.
Attendees will also get free entry to the inaugural Specsavers County Championship match of the season – Gloucestershire v Glamorgan.
Registration is compulsory. Places are limited and must be reserved by calling the Gloucestershire County Cricket Club team on 0117 910 8000.
