Bristol legal practice Lysander Law has expanded its medical negligence team with the appointment of two new solicitors.
The move follows a leap of 159% in the single-office firm’s turnover between 2018 and 2020 and complements its existing divisions, including personal and complex injury, insolvency, financial, commercial, and civil litigation.
The new arrivals to the medical negligence division, which is headed by experienced solicitor Lucy Sherry, are Claire Evans and Ben Murley, pictured below, who between them have broadened the firm’s service offering with their specialist portfolios.
With 20 years’ experience as a qualified nurse and midwife, as well as 20 years’ post qualification experience as a medical negligence solicitor for both sides, Claire brings a wealth of expertise in high-value birth injury claims, surgical injury and, more recently, dental claims.
Newly qualified solicitor Ben Murley joins with a recent degree in Law from the University of Chester and four years’ experience, again having trained working for both sides of medical negligence claims.
They are now working alongside Lucy Sherry, who has two decades of experience across a diverse range of claims, from complex disease to fatal medical accidents, including representing the estates of the deceased and their families, as well as the NHS and GP unions.
Lysander Law managing director Rhiannon Cambrook-Woods said: “It is unusual and greatly beneficial to a medical negligence solicitors’ firm to be able to boast that not only have all of their solicitors experience of acting in all types of medical and dental negligence claims, but that the whole team have represented both sides.
“This has given them a much broader understanding of the way claims and defences to claims are formulated, allowing a deeper insight into the medical procedures which ought to have been followed but also allows them to employ sensible tactics to gain outstanding results for their clients.”
Lysander Law is based on the outskirts of Bristol, near Cribbs Causeway.
