Accountancy group Grant Thornton UK’s South West corporate finance team celebrated a bumper end to 2024 after completing four deals in three months with a combined value of more than £150m.

The Bristol-based team, which also covers Wales, advised transactions during the fourth quarter spanning private equity, mergers & acquisitions and investment capital, with a focus on its key growth sectors such as healthcare, power & infrastructure and renewables.

Grant Thornton provided a seamless service across multiple specialist teams for these deals, including corporate finance, debt advisory, transactions advisory, tax valuations and modelling.

The quarter started with the team advising independent fertility centre Bristol Centre for Reproductive Medicine on its sale to CVC-backed FutureLife Group, one of Europe’s leading providers in reproductive medicine.

Also in the healthcare sector, the team acted on the sale of a leading digital psychiatry platform to a private equity firm.

Elsewhere, renewable energy installation and maintenance business Low Carbon Exchange Limited (LCX) was advised by the team on its sale to Sureserve.

Based in Weston-super-Mare, where it employs 151 people, £29m turnover LCX is a market leader in installing and maintaining renewable energy systems to social housing providers.

The team rounded off the quarter by advising Cardiff-headquartered dog-friendly coffee shop chain Coffi Lab on a strategic investment from the Development Bank of Wales.

The firm, named as one of the UK’s fastest growing food & beverage firms, is using the funding to expand further into the South West from its Welsh heartland.

Grant Thornton has also expanded the team with the appointment of Ben Stevens as an assistant manager from regional accountancy firm Bishop Fleming’s Bristol office.

The firm said the move reflected its confidence in the regional deals practice while meeting growing demand from new and existing clients.

Grant Thornton UK corporate finance partner for South West and Wales Jamie Roberts, pictured above, added: “We enter 2025 with a robust deals pipeline and strong ambitions for the year ahead.

“As we continue to build our client base across key sectors, our joined-up client-centric approach ensures we will continue to deliver market-leading returns for our clients.”
