Creative agency McCann has appointed Mark Williams and Julian Burrett as creative directors in its Bristol office.
Between them Mark and Julian have notched up a wealth of experience working on a multitude of major brands and campaigns over the past decade, including Microsoft, Google, Volvo, Samsung, Toshiba, Stella, Budweiser, Grolsch and Coors.
McCann Bristol managing director Andy Reid said: “I would have been delighted to have either Julian or Mark head up our creative department and lead us to greater success. To have both is incredible, and puts us in a really strong position.”
Julian has a strong commercial background starting his agency career in account handling, before moving through copywriting, planning and creative direction, which gives him a unique breadth of skills and understanding often missing from creative departments. His substantial thorough-the-line experience has been strengthened with his enthusiastic interest in new technologies, digital channels and data-led marketing.
Mark comes with a more traditional art direction pedigree, excelling in above-the-line communications with some major accolades under his belt including the prestigious Creative Circle, Kinsale Shark and Epica awards. His proven flair will give clients, both new and existing, the confidence to choose bold ideas that really stand out.
Andy added: “This reflects our ambition and demonstrates our desire for success and growth, putting a flag in the ground for where we want the agency to go. The appointments of two creative directors is a real turning point for McCann Bristol at a time when there seems to have been a vacuum of creative ideas across the industry. I’m talking about an apparent trend of agencies focussing on how messaging is delivered, rather than what the message is. We’ve always believed in getting the message right first.”
McCann Bristol’s client roster includes international, national and regional clients including Cathay Pacific, Lego, Brut, Ordnance Survey, HiQ, Goodyear, SeaLife, Pink Lady apples, Wadworth, and The Mall at Cribbs Causeway.
