The corporate tax team in South West accountancy firm PKF Francis Clark’s Bristol office has been strengthened with the appointment of a new senior manager.

Corporation tax specialist Paul Rattew, pictured, joined from regional rival Milsted Langdon at the end of last year.

PKF said he brought extensive experience of helping owner-managed businesses and larger groups across a range of sectors with corporation tax issues, HMRC enquiries, capital allowances, R&D tax credits, restructuring and IR35 issues, and transfer pricing.

Paul worked for just over five years in the Bristol office of Milsted Langdon as a corporation tax partner.

Prior to that he spent five years as an in-house tax expert for private healthcare group HCA after starting his tax career with international accountancy group Deloitte in London.

Paul said: “I’m looking forward to providing technical tax advice to teams across the firm when they need specialist expertise to solve problems for clients, as well as being involved in training colleagues.

“PKF Francis Clark’s tax department includes partners with national reputations who are at the forefront of our profession, so the chance to work with them was a big part of the attraction.

“It’s a vibrant, energetic team who know their stuff and want to develop and push themselves forward.”

PKF opened its Bristol office on Victoria Street five-and-a-half years ago with just three staff. Today it is home to a team of around 75 accountants and tax advisors.

In total PKFs nine offices have more than 800 members of staff, making it the largest firm of independent chartered accountants in the region.

The firm also recently took on corporate and real estate tax specialist Nick Crandon, who is based in its Truro and Plymouth offices.

Nick, who joined after eight years with national accountants BDO, supports complex corporate clients and owner-managed businesses with tax due diligence on transactions, as well as general tax advisory and compliance work.

PKF corporate tax partner Jonathan Riley said: “Paul and Nick are fantastic additions to our already strong tax team at PKF Francis Clark and reinforce our position as the obvious choice for tax advisory and compliance services in the West of the UK.”
