Advanced manufacturer Hexcel, a pioneer in developing adhesives and composite materials for the aerospace and defence industries, has become the latest UK firm to join Bristol’s National Composites Centre (NCC).
The Cambridge-based firm joins innovative West companies such as Airbus, GKN Aerospace, Rolls-Royce and AgustaWestland in supporting the NCC on the Bristol & Bath Science Park.
Being part of the NCC will bring a number of benefits to Hexcel including the opportunity to develop new processes and technologies in conjunction with end users and university specialists as well as providing access to state-of-the-art equipment, specialist software, knowledge and experience.
NCC chief executive Peter Chivers said: “This is great news for the National Composites Centre. Hexcel is a leading innovator in composite materials, particularly in the fields of aerospace, wind energy and industrial markets. We are very pleased to welcome them to the growing number of NCC members. We look forward to Hexcel’s contribution to our multi-sector offering for the whole of the composites industry.”
Hexcel’s director of sales for aerospace Neil Howard said: “We look forward to developing even closer working relationships with OEMs to develop and introduce new technologies and applications for composites.”
Hexcel has been a pioneer in the development of adhesives and composite since it was established by Cambridge University don Dr De Bruyne in 1934.
