Bristol law firm Barcan+Kirby is calling on good causes around the city to apply for support from its successful community fund.

Launched in 2020, the fund offers up to £1,000 to not-for-profit organisations and/or charities to better help them engage with their local communities.

The chosen charities and organisations, which must be based in the areas where Barcan+Kirby has its five offices. can use the money towards anything they want to boost their community.

The money can be used towards any cause that will positively impact the community in BS1, BS3, BS7, BS15 and BS35.

One good cause that benefited from the scheme in the past was the University of Bristol Student Union Phab,  which provides social clubs and holidays for people with and without disabilities.

In 2022 it was able to stage its first full Christmas party since the pandemic, thanks to the fund.

Groups supported by the fund last year included Suicide Prevention Bristol (BS1), which is part of a national organisation supporting anyone who is struggling with mental health and/or thoughts of suicide.

Its funding was put towards the National Suicide Prevention Helpline and vital equipment needed by the team patrolling areas in Bristol and Bath every weekend to prevent suicide.
