Managed service provider Dial A Geek has joined the growing number of Bristol firms to be certified as a B Corp in recognition of its pursuit of purpose as well as profit.
The firm, which was founded in 2006 and now employs 11 people, focuses on cybersecurity and compliance solutions.
It offers to help its clients grow their businesses with the smart use of tech, while also protecting the planet through multiple green initiatives.
Its B Corp accreditation bolsters Bristol’s reputation as a thriving hub for businesses with purpose and takes the number of B Corps in and around the city close to 30 – making it second only to London.
To be admitted into the B Corp community, a business needs to show evidence of its socially and environmentally responsible approach to governance, its workers, the local community, the environment, and its customers too.
It also needs to publicly disclose records of its performance in these areas and be regularly assessed.
Dial A Geek founder and self-styled ‘chief geek’ Gildas Jones said: “We wanted to demonstrate our commitment to social and environmental causes, as well as to our current and potential clients, and there was no better, more comprehensive way to do it than B Corp.”
More than 100,000 businesses have signed up for one of B Corps’ impact assessment since its launch in 2006,– yet fewer than 6,600 have been certified – a testament to its extremely high standards.
The growing number of Bristol organisations with B Corp status include Business West, the region’s largest business group which also runs Bristol Chamber of Commerce, PR firms Greenhouse and Wild West, specialist energy investment company Thrive Renewables, workplace technology provider Amba, tea brand Pukka Herbs and financial planning firm Paradigm Norton.
UK B Corps include The Guardian, innocent, Patagonia, The Body Shop and organic food pioneers Abel & Cole.
