Lysander Law, the Bristol-based specialist legal practice, has opened a civil and commercial litigation department to complement its existing clinical negligence, personal and complex injury and financial litigation divisions.
To spearhead the team, John Osman has joined the firm as head of civil and commercial litigation.
The new department will cover areas such as intellectual property claims, employment claims, shareholder disputes and contract breach claims.
It has been launched as Cribbs Causeway-based Lysander Law continues to have a successful year, with 16% growth in annual turnover.
John, pictured, joins from Somerset-based Gould and Swayne Solicitors, where he was a director and head of litigation.
He has also been a partner for Wansbroughs in the Wiltshire firm’s insurance and litigation team and, prior to this, worked for Clarke Wilmott and Somerset County Council.
He is a recognised name in the industry and appears in the legal directory, the Legal 500.
Across almost two decades he has covered a wide range of disputes including contractual disputes, professional negligence, real estate disputes, probate disputes and property disputes.
Lysander Law managing director Rhiannon Cambrook-Woods said: “Lysander Law has gone from strength to strength having bucked the trend of recent months.
“The introduction of our civil and commercial litigation department will continue this upward trajectory. I am also delighted to welcome John to the team. He has a wealth of experience and brings some exciting new opportunities to the business.”
John added: “Lysander Law is a modern and fresh law firm whose ethos is simple: to achieve the best possible outcome through practical, technical and strategic advice.
“I look forward to spearheading the Litigation team and working closely with the rest of the business to continue delivering high-quality, tangible results.”
