A sparkling wine-tasting evening, hosted by law firm Clarke Wilmot’s Bristol office and accountants Monahans, has raised more than £1,200 for Headway Bristol, the charity that helps survivors of brain injury.
Nearly 30 guests attended the Festival of Fizz at Clarke Wilmott’s waterside office, sampling a variety of sparkling wines supplied by Bristol wine merchants Davis Bell McCraith Wines, which also contributed a bottle for the raffle held on the night.
Money raised from the event will go towards providing one-to-one outreach support for six months, potentially meaning an individual could return to work and no longer need Headway’s support.
Headway Bristol CEO Kate Croucher said: “The support we receive from organisations such as Clarke Willmott and Monahans is vital. These events not only help us raise awareness of brain injury and the devastating effects on individuals and their families, they also help us raise much needed funds.
“Sadly demand for our services continues to increase, so it is crucial that in order to meet that demand we raise the £150,000-plus, required to fill our 35% gap in funding.
“We are extremely grateful to everyone involved – it was a great event and we hope other corporate supporters will get on board and hold events to support the charity’s work in the coming months.”
Clarke Willmott senior associate Stuart Gist, who hosted the event, added: “The work Headway Bristol does is pivotal to the local community and I’ve been privileged to meet some of the charity’s inspirational service users over the past few years.
“What comes across immediately is the transformative impact Headway makes to their lives. It’s great to be able to host evenings such as this to raise funds for such a vital charity, and to have a little fun in the process.”
Richard Formby, forensic accountant and partner at Monahans, which has offices in Bath, Chippenham, Glastonbury, Trowbridge and Swindon, said: “I have known about the excellent and vital support that Headway Bristol provides to the survivors of brain injuries and their families, both personally and professionally for over 25 years.
“As such, I was delighted to be asked to sponsor this Festival of Fizz fundraising event for Headway Bristol.”
