Bristol-headquartered national law firm Burges Salmon is aiming to educate and inspire its staff about how they work, both internally and directly with clients, in a new initiative.

The first instalment of its B-Innovative Week took place last week, with the firm collaborating with Bristol science and education centre We the Curious and the University of Bristol, among others, to offer daily internal presentations on topics including the importance of being curious and how to innovate in professional services.

The firm’s atrium also hosted demonstrations of cutting-edge tech projects including touchable haptic technology from innovative Bristol firm Ultrahaptics and AI, pictured.

B-Innovative ties in with the firm’s strategic focus of ‘Innovative service delivery’ which highlights a collaborative approach to client service delivery taken by the firm’s lawyers, project managers, innovation specialists and technologists.

The initiative was coordinated by the firm’s business solutions and learning and development teams, led by head of business solutions Rachel Roberts.

Rachel said: “We are encouraging and involving everyone in the firm to get stuck in with using new technologies and approaches. As a forward-thinking business, we designed this event to inspire our people and ultimately to improve our service delivery to clients.

“It was fantastic that all of the sessions were booked out, and this shows the level of enthusiasm across the business.”

Burges Salmon employs around 750 people in its Bristol headquarters and London office.
