Bristol law firm Burges Salmon's award-winning real estate team has advised Skanska Residential on its acquisition of a 4.1-acre former Ministry of Defence site in Bath.

Subject to planning approval, Swedish-owned Skanska will start to develop the Ensleigh South site north of the city in mid-2013, with the first homes being ready a year later. Burges Salmon advised Skanska on its two previous UK land acquisitions in Cambridge.

The Burges Salmon team was led by real estate partner Ross Polkinghorne, supported by solicitor Mervyn Seet. Mr Polkinghorne said: “Having advised Skanska on the purchase of its first UK residential sites in Cambridge last year, we are delighted to be supporting the team on their continued expansion here in the UK.”

Skanska Residential Development UK president Magnus Andersson said: “Bath is an excellent location, where we see potential for further growth and development in the residential sector”

Skanska will be working with Stirling Prize award-winning Bath architects Feilden Clegg Bradley Studio to develop concepts and plans for the Ensleigh South site.
