Roger Bull re-elected as Burges Salmon managing partner following four years of strong growth

Burges Salmon managing partner Roger Bull has been re-elected for a second four-year term having overseen a period of substantial growth at the Bristol-headquartered national law firm.

Achievements since Roger, pictured, took up the role on 1 May 2018 include exceeding £100m turnover and a 25% growth in the firm’s headcount as well as driving ongoing growth of its international practice. 

This came alongside successful launches of the firm’s fast-growing office in Edinburgh and its intellectual property (IP) practice in Dublin.

The firm has also implemented a range of progressive initiatives in relation to responsible business, innovation, the environment and diversity & inclusion.

In addition to this, Roger has worked with colleagues across the firm to steer the progress of its expertise in its chosen sectors of transport, energy and utilities, financial services, real estate and private wealth, supported by its market-leading cross-sector public sector and infrastructure groups, as well as its core practices and specialisms.

He has also worked with the firm’s business service leaders and teams to enhance the service provided internally and to our clients.

Roger joined Burges Salmon in 1995 as a trainee solicitor, qualified in 1997, became a partner in 2003 and head of the firm’s employment team in 2011. He also served as a member of its executive committee between 2009 and 2011.

“It’s particularly gratifying to kick-off my second term in conjunction with 10 new partner appointments, which further reflect our growth across a number of key sectors and specialisms including technology, fintech, transport, corporate tax, private wealth, public procurement, defence and nuclear.”

He said those factors would help the firm achieve its purpose of ensuring that its clients, its people and its wider communities flourished.
