The corporate and mergers & acquisitions team at Bristol-headquartered national law firm Burges Salmon has advised on more than 110 deals with a combined value of £4.5bn-plus over the past year.
While the market has continued to be volatile, the team benefited from strong levels of investment and merger & acquisition (M&A) activity, acting for domestic and international clients across a range of sectors.
Firms in the defence, technology and clean energy were among the most active while key growth sectors for the team included healthcare, life sciences and financial services.
Looking ahead, the team expects ESG (environmental, social and governance), digital transformation and cross-border activity to be significant themes in the 2023/24 financial year.
The team has appointed four new partners over the past 12 months – Malcolm Donald (private M&A and energy transition) last November, Andrew Mills (private M&A and private equity) in April, and most recently Alex Lloyd (private M&A and technology) and AJ Venter (public M&A and financial services) last month.
Burges Salmon corporate group head Nick Graves, pictured, said: “The past 12 months have continued to be a period of growth for our corporate and M&A team and we are delighted to have been involved in a number of significant and interesting transactions for our clients, both in the UK and internationally.”
Burges Salmon employs around 1,000 people in its Bristol HQ and London and Edinburgh offices.
