Bristol building contracting group Shield Services is providing some Christmas cheer for young hospital patients and their families by setting up a special yuletide light display.
The Warmley-headquartered group has used scaffolding on a building opposite the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children to stage the lightshow, which will stay on throughout the festive season.
To coincide with the dazzling display, which was officially switched on by Bristol football legend and Swindon Town manager Ian Holloway, Shield Services has set up a dedicated JustGiving page to raise vital funds for The Grand Appeal, the official charity of Bristol Children’s Hospital.
Shield Services chairman Luke House, pictured, below left, with Ian Holloway, said: “At Shield, supporting local charities is really important to us and this year we wanted to use our scaffolding expertise as a way of bringing joy to families going through a tough time.
“Raising money for The Grand Appeal, which does incredible work for the hospital and its patients is a bonus, and we’re proud to play a small role in making this Christmas brighter for the children and families at Bristol Children’s Hospital.”
The Grand Appeal funds life-saving equipment and vital research and provides family accommodation and support services to enhance the lives of patients at Bristol Children’s Hospital and their families.
The Grand Appeal senior community fundraising manager Kate Jones said: “We are incredibly grateful to Shield Services Group for their generosity and creativity in supporting the young patients and families at Bristol Children’s Hospital.
“This spectacular light display is a shining example of how the local community comes together to spread joy and hope during the festive season, while raising vital funds that help The Grand Appeal continue its work.”
