The Bristol office of national law firm Bevan Brittan has delivered a much-needed festive funding boost for the second consecutive year to a city-based charity supporting young people.

In 2023 the firm’s Bristol staff decided to make 1625 Independent People their office charity – and set about staging a range of fundraising activities to support the organisation, which works with young people who are homeless, at risk of becoming homeless or about to leave care.

It does this through signposting and advice, intensive one-to-one support, supported housing, group activities and peer support.

Last year Bevan Brittan, which also has offices in London, Birmingham and Leeds, gave 1625 Independent People an additional £25,000 donation as part of its ongoing commitment to the communities where it has bases.

At the time it was the firm’s largest-ever single donation, which it said reflected its community commitment and ambition to do even more to support good causes facing increasing fundraising challenges due to the cost of living crisis.

Now it has continued with its commitment by making an donating another £25,000 to the charity, which it will use to provide vital mental health support – alongside positive activities such as cooking, music and sports – to young people who have experienced homelessness and care.

Bevan Brittan Bristol office partner and community engagement lead Fran Mussellwhite, pictured above with colleagues and 1625 Independent People staff, said at a time when most people were looking forward to seeing family and friends, all the organisations supported by the firm were doing vital work to help those whose Christmases were likely to be very different.

“Last year was the highest amount we have ever donated to our office charities, and I am delighted that we are able to match that again,” she added.

“It is important that we make a positive contribution to the communities where we work and do all we can to help these organisations, especially at a time of the year when demand for their services is higher.

“Fundraising for all charities and not-for-profit organisations in the current climate remains difficult, so we know how important it is that they continue to get as much support as they can.”

Bevan Brittan, which achieved its 11th consecutive year of growth in 2024, has continued to grow its Bristol office, with a number of senior hires and 15 promotions as part of a record promotion round at the firm.

Bevan Brittan now employs more than 530 staff and has 90-plus partners across its four offices.
