Bristol’s saintnicks has been appointed as the lead agency for Elizabeth Shaw, one of the UK’s best-loved luxury chocolate brands and a business with its roots in the city.
The appointment covers new brand repositioning and the development of campaign creative across press and digital media, supported by retail/experiential marketing activity.
Elizabeth Shaw is best known for its two iconic brands – Elizabeth Shaw Mint Crisp, which was launched in 1937, and Famous Names liqueur-filled chocolates, launched in 1961 – both of which were originally produced in Bristol.
The firm was sold to Polish confectionery company Colian two years – the latest in a string of ownership changes.
Since the takeover Elizabeth Shaw has since evolved its luxury chocolate ranges across confectionery and biscuit products and has appointed saintnicks to help continue to grow its market share in a more discerning and diverse consumer market.
With new product development, the business is enjoying new sales growth and new distribution channels.
Elizabeth Shaw managing director Karen Crawford said: “2018 marks a period of real sales growth and ambition for Elizabeth Shaw.
“saintnicks really impressed us with their strategic and creative capability. There are some lovely consumer insights that have informed their thinking and they have grasped the detail of our range with strong creative campaign work.”
saintnicks CEO Fraser Bradshaw, pictured, added: “We are delighted to be working with Elizabeth Shaw. It’s a well-known brand with great heritage and integrity. We’ve worked with a lot of food and beverage brands and we’re very excited about this new campaign work and the content we are developing.
“We’re looking forward to helping the Elizabeth Shaw business grow its audience with new products and new channel marketing.”
Elizabeth Shaw was founded in 1881 as HJ Packer in St Pauls. In 1903 opened its historic Greenbank factory, which at one time employed hundreds of workers. The factory closed in 2006 and production outsourced to a number of sites around the UK and Europe. Its head office is now in Stoke Gifford.
Saintnicks provides design and branding services, digital and media campaigns and consultancy to blue-chip clients ranging from Bank of Ireland and AXA and to Luscombe soft drinks.
