Annual revenues have grown by 23% at regional law firm Michelmores’ Bristol office as the city’s property market continues its expansion.
Staffing in the office has also increased by 13%, with its real estate team achieving significant growth, quadrupling in size over the past year and attracting top solicitors from firms across the country.
Michelmores, which also has offices in London and Exeter, opened its Bristol office in 2012 to offer legal services across a range of sectors, including real estate, construction, agriculture, corporate and private wealth.
Real estate has been the main driver of the Broad Quay office’s expansion with the team now including 20 partners and more than 50 specialist lawyers who provide a full range of expertise, including planning, funding, environmental, construction, tax litigation and dispute resolution.
In recognition of this growth, real estate Paul Beanlands has been promoted from senior associate to partner, following his transfer from Michelmores’ London office.
Head of real estate Emma Honey said: “We invested in expanding the Bristol team in response to client demand and the obvious growth in the region, particularly in the real estate sector.
“Bristol has become a highly attractive opportunity for investors across the world and the huge range of innovative property projects taking place across the city is testament to the market conditions. It was therefore an easy decision to open a new office in the heart of the city.
“Once opened we quickly found that our teams also welcomed the move. Many of our solicitors now enjoy living in the beauty of the West Country alongside the buzz of the capital, working across our London and Bristol offices. As we continue to embrace agile working, we are delighted to be able to offer this ‘best of both worlds’ approach to our colleagues.”
In total Michelmores has 68 partners, a further 130 lawyers and a total complement of over 460 staff across its three offices.
