Bristol-based impact investment platform Ethical Equity has teamed up with national professional services group Evelyn Partners to boost its support programme for aspiring angel investors.

The link-up builds on the initiative launched last year in Bristol for investors who want to drive social change in the city.

The new comprehensive programme will support the UK’s 15,000-strong angel investment market, aiming to empower those at the beginning of their investment journey.

It is designed to empower emerging investors and equip them with the knowledge and resources needed to navigate the world of angel investing in early-stage businesses making a positive social impact.

Ethical Equity was set up two years ago by Bristol-based former corporate tax manager Ali Kazmi, pictured, with a mission is to empower and nurture a 1,000-sttrong community of new impact investors by next year.

By securing Evelyn Partners’ professional service team as a sponsor – which has brought with it funding, experience and expertise – Ethical Equity has been able boost the resources available through the Aspiring Angels programme to ambitious investors across the UK.

Designed to create a safe space for aspiring investors in early-stage enterprises, the programme provides access to valuable experience, the opportunity to build a network and the chance begin their contributions to the world of ethical investing.

Participants get six months of access to the cutting-edge AI Simulator, an artificial intelligence tool allowing investors to safely simulate investment decisions, and exclusive entry into the Ethical Equity Aspiring Angels Investors UK group, an online forum for businesses, investors, and experts.

They will also benefit from a series of three online workshops led by industry professionals, covering crucial topics such as the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS/EIS), private markets introduction, and legal and financial considerations.

Thanks to the partnership, the programme will also provide unparalleled access to Evelyn Partners’ professional services team and free membership of the inclusive Ethical Equity 1000 Club, a diverse collective within the angel investor community.

Ethical Equity CEO and founder Ali Kazmi said: “In a landscape that’s been challenged by a lack of information, a lack of diversity, and a lack of opportunity, we’re incredibly proud to be opening the doors of angel investment to those who may not have considered it or been able to before.

“The Aspiring Angel Investor Programme is integral to making the investment space more accessible and giving new investors the best chance to succeed.
“With only 2% of funding going to female founded businesses in the UK each year – and less than 1% to ethnic minority entrepreneurs – the landscape is bleak.

“In order to change and challenge these stats, we know that we need to get a better range of people into angel investment.

“Having support from a renowned name like Evelyn Partners is a fantastic step in empowering those new to the world of investment.

“Their sponsorship, time, and expertise are now an integral part of the curriculum and we’re thrilled to have them on board.”

Evelyn Partners Bristol-based managing partner Helen Bassett, pictured, added: “Ethical Equity’s mission is to empower and nurture a community of 1,000 new impact investors by 2025.

“This aligns with our regional focus in the professional services team to support a more accessible access point into angel investing, as well as to create a pool of investors who support the vision of a diverse investing landscape.

“Being able to back the team at Ethical Equity through sponsorship of the Aspiring Angel Investment Programme is a crucial step in empowering aspiring angel investors with the tools, knowledge, and resources they need to truly thrive.

“Along with Ali and the team, we can’t wait to see how these diverse teams take their angel investing to the next level; supporting and encouraging the next, diverse generation of aspiring entrepreneurs in the region.”
