Kaisen, a Bristol-based boutique leadership consultancy of business psychologists, has been bought by global accountancy group Deloitte as part of its plans to launch a leadership consulting practice.
Kaisen advises companies in three areas – defining leadership strategies, assessing individuals for their leadership potential and helping develop those individuals.
It employs more than 60 people including 30 occupational psychologists based in the UK and US. It has 25 years’ experience working with senior leaders in more than 40 countries.
It has worked with Deloitte for the past five years. Deloitte said it would launch its leadership consulting practice in the UK, US, Canada, Australia, and Japan, before going global.
Deloitte global organisation transformation and talent leader Dimple Agarwal said: “Leadership is an issue at the top of the boardroom agenda.
“Deloitte’s 2015 Human Capital Trends showed that nine in 10 organisations cite leadership as one of their biggest challenges. However, only 8% of UK organisations believe that they have an “excellent” leadership pipeline. It is clear that companies are struggling to attract, retain and develop the leaders which will shape their future.”
Richard Houston, managing partner of consulting at Deloitte UK, added: “Having initially established an alliance with Kaisen almost five years ago, today’s transaction is the next phase in integrating the specialist knowledge and experience of the two organisations. The establishment of Deloitte’s leadership practice is an important step in building our global consulting business, allowing us to help clients identify, develop and retain their leaders.”
the new division buildt on the firm’s work in strategy and business consulting.
“Leadership is a perennial issue across all the sectors. Year after year leadership comes across as the single most important issue that businesses are dealing with,” he said.
