Tickets are now on sale for Pop Go The Legals IV, Bristol legal sector’s loudest charity night of the year.
The evening, now in its fourth year, brings together the top musicians from the city’s law firms in a battle of the bands-style competition.
Taking place at The Tunnels club at Temple Meads this Thursday, the keenly contested event is staged by Osborne Clarke and is once again supporting The Jack Banks’ Star Tribute Fund.
Bands taking part this year include Temple Keys (Osborne Clarke), Negative Feedback (Burges Salmon), The Mighty Rufus (VWV & Womble Bond Dickinson) and TiLT (TLT).
Each will perform a short set with the winner taking home the coveted Pop Go The Legals trophy based on musicianship, stage presence and all-round danceability.
Expect an evening of powerful cover versions of songs from the likes of The Jam, Blondie, The Kinks and Kings of Leon, if previous years are to go by.
Doors open at 6.30pm with the first band playing at 7pm.
Tickets are £5 each and are available from paula.banks@osborneclarke.com or debbie.baker@osborneclarke.com
The Jack Banks’ Star Tribute Fund was set up in memory of Jack, who at four years old was diagnosed with a rare form of leukaemia. For more than four years he underwent chemotherapy, radiotherapy and two bone marrow transplants at the Bristol Children’s Hospital. Jack died in 2008, aged just nine.
The fund raises much-needed money to improve the facilities on the Children’s Cancer Unit, providing a much better hospital environment for children with cancer.
So far it has raised £100,000 for a new playroom and integrated conservatory on the Children’s Cancer Unit, £10,000 towards a refurb of the kitchen so that children undergoing treatment for cancer can receive a better level of catering, and £70,000 to upgrade the 10 isolation rooms on the bone marrow transplant section of the Unit.
The fund continues to raise funds for Captain Jack’s Treasure Chests, three pirate-themed toy boxes from which children who have to undergo unpleasant and scary medical procedures can choose a well-deserved treat.
