Great teamwork, increased productivity and an infectious culture of positive action are key to a happy workplace – and they can be achieved now.
This upbeat message will be demonstrated today through a groundbreaking partnership between Bristol’s Happy City Initiative, Solutions Focus at Work and the New Economics Foundation (NEF).
They have teamed up to bring the Happiness at Work tool to the city – the first time it has been used outside London – as part of a Work Happy programme.
The workshop, designed for directors and HR personnel, which takes place at Leigh Court, Abbots Leigh, includes an update on the latest developments in wellbeing at work, a live test for all participants of the wellbeing@work tool with an outline of the management potential produced by instant results.
Mike Zeidler (Happy City Initiative) and Mark McKergow (Solutions Focus at Work) will introduce ideas for the most effective ways to tap energy for change and results even when staff are short of time and under stress.
Happy City founder Mike said: “Our approach helps individuals to thrive, teams to work more productively and organisations to bring more human prosperity without damaging the prospects of future generations.
“The Work Happy tools equip people to inspire their colleagues with an infectious culture of positive action so that constructive, creative and responsible collaboration become the norm.”
NEF’s survey is a major advance in staff engagement, providing insights into drivers of happy and rewarding work that go far beyond health and safety, stress management and standard team building fare.
Nic Marks, director of NEF Consulting and creator of wellbeing@work, will be at today’s event following its national launch at the Houses of Parliament on 17 May.
He said: “We’ve been delighted by trials which clearly show the wellbeing@work tool is doing the catalytic job of informing and motivating staff in the way we’d hoped it would.
“The Work Happy training and support developed by the Happy City Initiative with Solutions Focus at Work dovetails beautifully with the level of energy and enthusiasm for action which the survey generates.”
